The installation of 23 Union flags along Watton high street has now been completed. The flags have been erected as part of a Market Town Initiative funded project by Breckland Council.

16 Union flags were erected just before the Platinum Jubilee, with the final 7 flags installed this week, flying high above the busy Breckland Watton high street.

Cllr Paul Claussen, Executive Member for Economic Development and Growth at Breckland Council, commented: “Our Market Town Initiative programme is supporting all 5 Breckland market towns with bespoke projects to meet their individual needs. I’m delighted to see Watton has now completed one of its town projects which had been proposed by local Ward Members, and look forward to even more innovative and creative town projects to be completed over the coming months.”

Watton Breckland Council ward Members, Cllr Bowes and Cllr Kiddell commented: “We are delighted to see the project has now been completed as proposed and see the Union flag flying high along the high street. Watton high street is bouncing back from the pandemic, and we hope with funded projects like this it will encourage even more people to visit their local high street and support local businesses.”
