Ron & Helen with Watton Town Mayor Stan Hebborn December 2017

A lot has changed at the group in the last two years.  We unfortunately lost husband and wife, Helen, our secretary, and Ron, our chairman, within 3 weeks of each other just at the beginning of covid. We also lost several other long-term members of the group. All will be sadly missed.  Tom, one of our committee members, did a fantastic job of gathering the group’s equipment and paperwork together and once the covid rules allowed, Tom organised a meeting at the beginning of December 2021 to get the group up and running again.

We meet under the guidance of Diabetes UK, and run as a support group, but we are a social group. At each meeting we are introducing a 20/30 minute discussion on “Things Diabetic” ie. how certain medication affects you, new driving laws for diabetics, sugar free cake recipes and sampling of sugar free cake!

For after our Diabetic Chat we are organising different things ie. speakers on various subjects, a trip to Peter Beales Roses at Attleborough including lunch, Christmas dinner at a local restaurant.
