Happy 100th Olive!
Many old Wattonians will recognise Watton girl, Olive Salter (nee Buckle) who lived in Stokes Avenue with her beloved husband Bill.
Olive married Bill in 1941 after she met him when he was a Supervisor working for Laings on RAF Watton, having previously been ‘down the mines’ in Wales. Bill celebrated his 100th birthday on 13th January 2010 and sadly passing away the following year.
Olive emigrated to New Zealand, accompanied on the trip by her son John, to live with her daughter Myra. Olive left Watton for the last time on the 31st October, 2011. Olive has settled well in New Zealand as is plain from her picture above.
