Wayland Men’s Shed, Social Group at Watton Sports Centre.

For the past few years I have been putting together my monthly writeup for inclusion in the Wayland News, shamefully during all that time I have rarely mentioned our small band of members, “The Shutterist Photography Group” these members have regular outings to places of interest or natural beauty to partake in what they enjoy most, taking photos, with regular friendly competition to see who can take the best photo of the month, if you’re interested, why not come on down on a Monday morning and find out a bit more.

Our social side is going from strength to strength with more new members turning up each week. Friday 29th October was our Christmas dinner at Broom Hall with 40 Members and partners attending and an enjoyable evening was had by all. With 2021 slowly coming to a close and our social activities nearing the end for this year, with just our “Mince Pies and Mulled Wine” event on the 20th December and our weekly Monday and Wednesday morning social meetings left on our agenda, but as always, our social secretary is hard at work organising an interesting list of activities for 2022, when it is hoped we can once again, resume our popular one-day coach outings as well as all our other activities.

Our “Computer Group” are, as always very busy and also benefiting from some new members and doing a good job of helping to raise funds for our Shed. Last but not least our Carpentry Workshop, I am pleased to say that this is nearing completion after moving to our new venue at Watton Sports Centre, having to move all the equipment and re-organise has taken longer than expected but the benefit is we have some new machinery and some more space to make life a bit easier, we should be ready for members to start using our new facility as from Monday 15th November. Also, for 2022 we will be organising some teaching sessions in “Wood Turning for Beginners” (Free to members), hopefully this will start in January and dates will be announced in “Wayland Men’s Shed” monthly Journal we send to all members.

Just a reminder to any Gentlemen considering joining us, we are now resident at “Watton Sports Centre”, for social meets; Monday and Wednesdays Mornings we are in the “Bowls Club House” 9am to 12pm. For Computer Group and Workshop: Mondays and Thursdays, 9am to 12pm ( behind the Bowls Club House). Our activities will close over the Christmas week from 12pm on the 22nd December and reopen on the 29th December at 9am. Cheers for now and look forward to seeing you all again soon.
